Guided by the mission of "Spreading Ideas," we believe passionately in the power of a single thought to change attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world. Our events are organized by the dedicated volunteers of Team Convention—the oldest committee of the Department of Commerce—ensuring a diversity of voices from many disciplines, free from any commercial or political agenda.
The Analytical Edge: Why TEDx Matters for MBA BA
In the world of Business Analytics, we often focus on the "what" and the "how" found within datasets. However, TEDxDepartmentofCommerce provides the "so what?" It is here that our Business Analytics students learn the vital art of Data Storytelling.
Beyond the Algorithm: For a future analyst, this event is a masterclass in how to present complex, disruptive ideas with clarity and passion. It challenges students to look beyond variables and see the human stories, ethical dilemmas, and "legacies" that data leaves behind.
A Diversity of Disciplines: Analytics is never a silo; it touches every field from psychology to economics. By engaging with speakers from varied cultures and backgrounds, BA students gain the cross-disciplinary perspective required to build more holistic and empathetic models.
Building a Legacy: Since our inaugural event on 24th October 2020, we have focused on the theme of "Legacy." For the MBA BA cohort, this means understanding that "A Way of Success" often involves using insights to create a lasting, positive impact on society.
A Tradition of Inspiration
The journey began with the vision of our leadership, notably Prof. RK Singh, who inaugurated our first virtual event by reminding us that success is not a singular path but a multifaceted journey. This philosophy mirrors the analytical world, where multiple models can lead to a single truth.
